"Do It" AKA "Tiara"
Do It was found on a breeding farm in PA that was experiencing overpopulation. We worked with her owners and found a local family that was willing to purchase her. Now named "Tiara", she has blossomed into a lovely cross country mount for her new owner, Melissa. Tiara earns her keep by giving wagon rides on her family's working sheep farm. She recently gave back to our rescue by donating some of those wagon rides to help support our rescue on a special fundraising night. Congratulations, Tiara on your new life, living in lush green fields in horsey paradise! If you are in the Sunbury, PA area and would like to visit Tiara and perhaps take a ride on her wagon, please visit www.owensfarm.com . They specialize in grass fed meats and encourage visitors to come see and learn about farm life!
"Mack" AKA "Dakota"
When we began working with Do It's owners we were given the opportunity to help 2 other horses on the farm, one being Mack. Now named Dakota, he is being doted on by his new owner Bekah being a bomb proof trail and lesson horse and is shown in the local 4-H.
"Virginia" AKA "Ginny"
Virginia was an owner relinquishment from a thoroughbred breeding farm. She had a very successful racing career earning $167,000 over her lifetime and then started her second career as a broodmare. She had just lost her 3rd live foal shortly after birth, before coming to us. Virginia spent a few months with us, gaining weight and rehabbing her neglected broodmare feet along with a cut to a heel bulb that she sustained in the pasture. She was adopted out once, only to find herself in a situation where her new mom couldn't provide for her. She was directly placed then into the awaiting arms of her new mom, Jill, who just ADORES her and now calls her "Ginny". Jill plans on using Ginny as a trail horse. She has proven to be a fantastic trail mount, even going bridleless like she had been training like that for years for her 1st adoptive mom. Jill's daughter is also working with her as a 4-H project for the coming year.
Sigonella AKA "Siggy"
Siggy found her way into her Happy Tails safe haven through the blessing of Facebook networking and a stable manager who cared dearly for Siggy's welfare. Siggy is considered a 'leftover' from the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. She came along with her pregnant friend Nerfertiti from a breeding farm who simply had no use for them anymore. Siggy is now living the good life with her new family near Erie, PA. She and her best friend, Prize are the apples of their mommy Annette's eye and are gearing up to be lesson and trail horses now in their new careers!
