Nerfertiti
BREED: Thoroughbred
AGE: 8
SEX: Mare
HEIGHT: 16h +
MORE INFO & HISTORY: Nerfertiti started her life as a racehorse. Unfortunately, she wasn't very fast and her large size did a number on her knees. Nerfy, or "T" as her foster mom calls her, started her broodmare career 2 yrs ago on a veterinarian's breeding farm. She did very well with her first baby and consequently was bred back to the stud Albert the Great. Unfortunately, her owner ran out of money and could not commit to her. She was abandoned on the farm and obtained through a sheriffs sale by the vet who owned the farm. T then came to us, the week of Thanksgiving 2011 through owner surrender. We have supported T through her pregnancy and the birth of her foal "Auggie's Miracle" on March 5th. Auggie is off to a rocky start as unexpectedly T has developed a syndrome where an elevated testosterone level caused her to reject Auggie and become very aggressive towards him. Auggie and T have been separated and each are doing much better apart than together.
T has big knees and a bit of a cloudyness in right eye, but neither seem to bother her too much. She is a bit stiff but she has improved since she has arrived and moves about well. At the very least she would make a lovely companion, but we believe she could also make a lovely light riding horse with the proper attention. T w/t/c, backs easily and is a very placid mare undersaddle and on the ground.
NERFERTITI IS NOT AVAILABLE AS A BROODMARE. AS WITH ALL MARES THAT COME THROUGH OUR DOORS SHE WILL BE PLACED WITH A NO BREEDING CONTRACT.
